Putting a spring in my step

Confession time: it was absolutely freezing when we took these shots! For the sake of transparency, there was entirely nothing that felt like spring during this shoot – a freezing north wind was biting, and even Kris was frozen in his heavy duty puffer jacket and hat. Here I was in just a silk dress and ankle boots, sucking it up to let you see the dress in all its glory – this is a dress that deserves the limelight without the ungainly distraction of a winter coat.

LK Bennett’s Mathilde dress is 100% a classic, investment dress that I can imagine Kate Middleton wearing beautifully. The timeless combination of navy and cream (in my favourite print, the ever-stylish polka dot) is complemented by the modest length, which falls just on or below the knee depending on your measurements (I’m 5’5 for reference). But classic doesn’t mean boring – the cute collar with glamorous diamante buttons inject a good dose of fun and, paired with these Victorian-inspired ankle boots, offer a different look to that of a strappy sandal (which would be ideal come the warmer months). For now, the boots (and long sleeves) will work perfectly for spring, if you’re brave enough to remove your coat.

That said, once the weather does warm up, I can promise you’ll be glad you bought Mathilde now. She’s perfect for garden parties, graduation ceremonies, weddings, christenings/naming ceremonies and, well, any spring/summer soiree you might have on the calendar this year. Fingers crossed there’s something to look forward to… but if not, you can always dress up for a cappuccino. Hopefully in the sun.
