40+ ‘clean’ makeup trend

Scrolling TikTok the other week, I was being shown lots of videos of ‘clean’ makeup. The look is more an aesthetic rather than an ethical or environmentally-friendly way to approach makeup.

Most of what I was seeing was being served by the bouncy-skinned Gen Zs (using a plethora of products that they seem to have no problem with getting all over their white tops), so I thought I’d try it out on my 41-year-old face using my Trinny London collection. You can watch the video on my Instagram but meantime, I’ve described and linked the products I used here. Let me know if you give it a try!

Trinny London Plump Up Serum – this serum contains hyaluronic acid for hydration, and advanced peptides really help with the skin’s collagen and elastin production. It’s a product that I can see a visible difference with in the clarity of my skin and texture too.

Bioderma Cicabio Cream – I love this soothing repair cream for my eye area as it’s slightly tacky and feels like it nourishes the delicate eye area without over saturating it. It’s a great one for tired or irritated eyes as it’s really gentle, and a little goes a long way.

Trinny London Bounce Back Moisturiser – this also contains hyaluronic acid and peptides, so if your skin is like mine leans towards dry and/or sensitive, this gentle moisturiser will probably work well for you. It’s fragranced, which can often be a problem with my skin but I haven’t had any issues with this. I tend to use it in the evening while my skin is resting to get the full benefit of this super hydrating, smooth as butter moisturiser. It feels like a real bedtime treat too.

Trinny London BFF SPF in Medium – I use this product every single day. One pump is enough for most days, two pumps for more coverage or if you’re using this as your SPF (I’d recommend using a separate SPF first). It’s perfect to start your makeup routine or just wear alone – it works perfectly for the ‘clean’ makeup trend

Trinny London Just a Touch in Amelia – this wee pot of perfection lasts for months, I’m not kidding, I only use this where I need extra coverage – around the nostrils, my chin and sometimes on the cheek/forehead if needed. It’s so handy for taking out in my bag for quick and easy touch-ups and it really covers a multitude of ‘sins’.

Trinny London BFF Eye in Alice – my ride or die, I absolutely love this under eye brightener. I’ve been using a lighter shade to increase brightening effects but I think I’ll go back to my Match2Me colour next time. It’s so soft, creamy and lightweight – perfect for correcting or brightening darkness under the eye. Which is an everyday issue for me!

Trinny London Lash2Lash – one of the best mascaras I’ve tried, truly, and before Trinny London’s I’d tried many over the years! It has a nice plump, bushy brush which is ideal for layering up the colour as well as separating the lashes. The formula is thick enough to coat the lashes without clumping. I’m not sure how they’ve done it, but I’d go so far as to say it’s the perfect mascara! This product is limited edition so get one now if you fancy it – usually it comes as a double ended wand with the equally as good brown gel.

Lip2Cheek in Pia – don’t be afraid of this highly pigmented blusher and lip colour, it’s bright but can be applied really lightly for a wash of peony pink or built up for more impact. It’s become one of my favourites, which I thought would be just for summer but it looks really fresh in winter, and it’s great for brightening my face in these darker months.

Sheer Shimmer in Katie – I use this most days, it’s a gorgeous shimmer neutral brown-pink hue that works over almost any colour combination. I love it on my lips, and Sheer Shimmer is such a natural, dewy highlighter that doesn’t shine, it glistens.

These colours are based on my Match2Me – give it a go if you don’t know where to start, it really works, but leave me a comment if you need any help.
