HS: The Launch

The Daydreamer has been busy throughout October. Among other things, I’ve been assisting with the HS launch which is happening this Saturday and I am so excited about it! (I hope my gorgeous Daydreamers are going?) The launch of HS is being held in association with V&A at Dundee at The McManus; the night kicks off with a runway show of Velvet Venom, the first collection from Hayley Scanlan’s exciting new diffusion line, HS.

Hayley’s main label, Hayley Scanlan, is a high end fashion label that has become a favourite with celebrities and supermodels. Erin O’Connor famously commissioned a Hayley Scanlan studded leather jacket from the New Frontiers collection, while other fans include global pop sensations, Jessie J and Marina Diamandis, as well as hot new girl groups, Stooshe and Little Mix. Hayley Scanlan has also been featured in cult fashion magazine, i-D, along with Vogue.co.uk and numerous Scottish publications. Hayley Scanlan continues to attract a lot of interest – superstar Azaelia Banks is the most recent addition to the Hayley Scanlan celebrity fanbase, tweeting her support to Hayley just a few weeks ago.
So, why has she created a diffusion line? It’s simple – everyone wants a piece of Hayley Scanlan. The Dundee born designer made a dress for her sister last Christmas and since then, she’s received requests for similar dresses from friends, family and fans on Twitter and Facebook. The obvious thing for her to do was to design a more affordable, wearable range which is inspired by the silhouettes in the main collection, but in simpler fabrics. HS will be available to buy on the Hayley Scanlan website, which, conveniently, launches on the same night of the new HS label.
The designer herself is an inspiration to anyone living in Dundee who wants to make it in the cut-throat world of fashion. After studying at Duncan of Jordanstone, Scanlan went on to intern at Jeremy Scott in Beverly Hills as a Print Designer, assisting him with his collections and at Paris fashion week before establishing her own label in 2011. A year later, and the girl has done good: she’s set up studio in Dundee, created her diffusion line and become an official ambassador for the city of Dundee. Oh, and did I mention that she gave birth to twin boys, Freddie and Oscar? Yes – she actually is Superwoman. But cooler.
Watch out for the HS collection – if you can’t be at the launch party on Saturday, make sure you log on to her website and get your hands on some HS before it sells out.
