Autumn dressing

You guys know how much I like to get good use out of all my clothes, how I try and shop for things that can be worn year-round with lots of other pieces already in my wardrobe. For me, Autumn has become a season of floral dresses worn with boots open coats – I get to wear my pretty dresses from the summer months in a less feminine way, toughened up with utilitarian pieces such as the puffer coat and ankle boots worn here.

I bought this dress about two weeks ago while returning some kids’ stuff to M&S. I spotted it and had to have it – I know it will work for all seasons and that, even with its slightly puff shoulders, it won’t really date over time. A lot of people must have thought the same things as it’s selling out (link below). The coat was also a recent purchase, from Uniqlo – it’s really light and folds away easily, which will be handy for when we can travel again – I always like to be prepared for cold weather without compromising too much on style, but I also like to travel as lightly as possible. The chunky ankle boots you saw in this post – they work as well with this dress as they do with a pair of jeans.

This is the sort of outfit I’ll be wearing on repeat throughout the autumn and winter months, and it make a nice change to go out for a walk with Jake in something other than leggings. What’s your go-to look when the weather gets colder?
