A quick way to bring some glamour to your wardrobe

As much as I love my leggings, and as much as I’ve become very fond of my loungewear, I’m really excited at the prospect of going places – if only to use it as an excuse to wear something pretty. However, it’s now been over a week since lockdown restrictions eased a bit more, allowing us to go to restaurants and shops, and the boldest step I’ve taken was to nip to Primark to stock up on vest tops while wearing a faux fur, flared jeans and heels. Heels!

I really do miss wearing my favourite clothes, so I’ve been wearing cute outfits at home (even if it’s just a pair of jeans) as a way to stay motivated and feel cheered up. In life, we need some glitz and glamour, it changes our attitude – we work hard, and after this mother of a year we’ve had, we deserve to feel special.

Now, I for one am not quite ready for glitz and glamour by way of sequins or black tie events. No, I need an understated elegance, a way to feel amazing but still wearable for every day. I get this feeling when wearing my One Hundred Stars dressing gown – in my mind, it transforms me from slob to silver screen siren in an instant – so I thought I’d see if there was another piece that would have the same effect, but which could also be worn out of the house as we ease back into a life outside the home.

This beautiful stork-print top is just the ticket. She’s pretty in pink, and soft and floaty, and I find myself wafting around the house, imagining myself as a modern-day Princess Margaret in Mustique (did I mention I’m a daydreamer?). Somewhere between kaftan and kimono, this modal and viscose throwover is possibly the quickest and easiest way to bring some glamour back into your life – with jeans, over leggings, hiding bolognese-stained vests… you name it, she’s taking it to the next level.

I paired mine with blue jeans and a simple camisole and plenty of gold jewellery for this post, but mostly I’ve been wearing her with leggings at home. I can’t wait to actually wear her out of the house too, once the temperatures warm. She’s also going to look amazing with white jeans, a brown belt, gold sandals. Or over a maxi t-shirt dress that clings a little too tightly, or a bikini or swimsuit, if we get that far this year.

I was gifted this piece by the brand, but at £45 I’d happily have spent the money on what I know will bring the glamour to my wardrobe for years to come – whether we’re in lockdown or not.
