Those three little words that, when written to me via email invitation one weekday afternoon, fill me with joy: champagne, summer, brunch.
Is there any meal that is more synonymous with the weekend than brunch? Sure, breakfast meetings might be a thing mid-week but come Saturday and Sunday, it’s all about enjoying a lazy brunch with friends for a few hours. Especially when there’s champagne on the menu.
If you live locally, you probably know about The Adamson – it’s a restaurant in St Andrews which does really amazing food in a really friendly environment. You don’t need to dress up, but you can; you don’t need to drink, but you definitely can; you don’t need to order a lot, but you can; you don’t need to be a foodie, but you might end up leaving as one. (You can read my review of lunch at The Adamson in this post.)
When I heard about the summer brunch event, I pencilled it in the diary immediately and did some sweet talking at home to get time away, making sure my bestie was free to join me for some much needed girl time.
11.30am
We arrived at The Adamson and were shown to the cocktail bar (it has its own entrance but I forgot) where there were Veuve Clicquot branded balloons and glasses, along with ‘trees’ of champagne and huge magnums of Veuve Yellow Label. We were offered a glass immediately, which we happily accepted, and left to mingle with the other guests while the DJ played.
12.15pm
We were shown to our seats at the bar, where a bottle of Veuve was waiting for us. We actually ordered a flat white each as well because we were both slightly hungover… The DJ took a break and a live singer came on to do a set throughout brunch.
12.40pm
The first course was served – half a toasted muffin topped with smoked salmon, a poached egg, and Hollandaise sauce. It was pretty perfectly cooked, and worked well with the fizz.
1pm
Next was a chicken breast on a bed of Bombay spiced baby roast potatoes, with fresh green beans and pea shoots. I can’t explain how good this was – it was truly delicious, the chicken was soft, full of flavour and juicy, complemented beautifully by the seasonal veggies which the chef had made much more exciting with the spices. Lastly, dessert – a selection of mini desserts and scones served in the style of afternoon tea. No tea though, a pink cocktail instead.
2pm
We finished our brunch and, even though the party was in full swing thanks to the DJ and champagne, it was time for us to leave. Next time we will definitely book a babysitter all day – and leave the car at home!
The Veuve Clicquot Champagne Summer Brunch experience was gifted to me and a plus one. Tickets were £55 for a three course brunch with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot between two, a cocktail each, and a live DJ and party atmosphere. The day started at 11.30am and although we left early afternoon, I was told that last summer’s brunch finished at 11.30pm. The ticket price, in my opinion, was more than good value for money.
That looks excellent! Glad you all enjoyed it. A great way to relax and enjoy good company.

It was great fun, shame we had the car! 😉
