Two by Two

imageWith holiday season approaching fast I thought I’d put together a post to demonstrate how two pairs of shoes can transform any outfit from day to evening this summer. By packing a great pair of flats and a fairly neutral pair of heels for your summer trips, you can make even the most basic looks work for any time of day – even a simple T-shirt with jeans! Right now I’m loving Boden’s shoe collection – their designers should be given a big bonus for consistently coming up with amazing shoes that are on trend and super quality. Boden’s shoes are beautiful, yes, but they’re also beautifully made; they’re a delight to wear and worth spending that little bit extra on. (I promise, you won’t be disappointed. Tempted? Boden is offering a discount all week, so hurry!)

imageFor the day look, I wore these pony hair slide sandals in cheetah print (they also come in navy, white and mustard, decisions, decisions). I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: animal prints are totally a neutral addition in any wardrobe! The monochrome effect is always classic and can be worn with almost anything, and the slider/mule is so versatile. Though they are quite snug, they’re comfy; in just a couple of hours were moulding to the shape of my foot. The leather is soft and cushioned, so these are a good option for exploring new places (albeit, at a leisurely pace, of course) or simply lounging by the pool.

imageTo take the look from day to evening, I removed the silk scarf, pulled my Mulberry pouch out of my basket (which I regularly use to keep all my ‘bits’ and which doubles up as a clutch), draped the jacket over my shoulders, and swapped the flats for these suede Jasmine heels (which I first saw on the utterly divine Wendy of ThankFifi). More mules, but they’re just so good for keeping feet cool in the warmer months. For the same reasons as the flats, these gorgeous heels are really comfortable too – soft, quality suede, with plenty of space for hot feet (ugh). Mr Daydreamer isn’t a fan – he pronounced them as ‘weird’ – but who the hell cares? They’re comfy and modern and well-crafted. And they’re shoes. What girl can say no to that?

imageBoth pairs of Boden shoes would work equally as well for work with a little black dress, or for Sundays spent in white jeans, or, well, anything really. What do you think?

I’m Wearing: jeans, J by Jasper Conran at Designers at Debenhams; t-shirt, Next; jacket, Debenhams; basket, from a stall deep in the souks in Marrakech; scarf, Aspinal of London courtesy of Philips; pouch, Mulberry; flats, Boden; heels, Boden (make sure you buy the shoes now because the website has discounts running all week).

Loving both of these but those heels are fabulous! Are they super high and wobbly to walk in?! I have trouble in too high a heel these days!
I have been super strict with myself to avoid the Boden website this year – it is always soooo tempting!

Linda, they are high but not too wobbly and very soft and comfy. Xx
