Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or are lucky enough to still be holidaying and therefore not paying too much attention to autumn trends quite yet), you’ll have realised that the Burberry personalised blanket wrap is the piece of the season.
Following the AW14 Burberry show in February when Cara Delevigne modelled the poncho, the fashion set declared it the “it” piece of the season – a decision supported by some of the world’s most stylish women (including Olivia Palermo, SJP and Rosie Huntington Whiteley, pictured), who have all been seen swaddled in the now instantly recognisable fabric.

The Burberry blanket wrap is a statement piece and yet, with the rich but neutral autumnal colour palette, it’s a worthwhile investment that won’t date. In addition, it’s made in Scotland from wool and cashmere, so you can ease your conscience by convincing yourself that you’re helping the Scottish economy….
Admittedly, at £895, most consciences couldn’t cope with such a spend – but fear not, this is where British high street giant M&S saves the day with their own version of autumn’s wrap, below. Designed in similar colours but without being a total rip-off of the Burberry blanket, the M&S wrap is just £45 and so is a no-brainer this season.
The only other clothing required is a pair of jeans and a simple jersey (both of which you will undoubtedly already own) – this look is all about the poncho and accompanying accessories. M&S has these covered with this super cool hat and these oh-so-beautiful boots. To finish the look, why not have a seamstress sew your initials into one corner of the wrap? Autumn fashion, done. Just like OP, SJP and RHW.
