Last night saw the final event of the Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize take place in the Orchid Room at The Dorchester – and the winner is…. (drumroll here)…. Thomas Tait!
Thomas Tait had his work cut out for him (the shortlist included Mary Katrantzou, Chau Har Lee and Hermione de Paula) but the judging panel obviously saw great potential and room for development in Tait.
His prize? £25
,000 to help towards creating his next collection as well as accommodation and an event at the Dorchester Collection hotel of his choice, and with cities such as London, LA, Milan, New York and Paris playing host to The Dorchester Collection, Tait is sure to have a ball.
The decision was made following a fashion show featuring designs of the shortlisted designers by a panel of fashion industry experts: Manolo Blahnik
, Giles Deacon , The Honorary Daphne Guinness , Stephen Jones , OBE , Yasmin Le Bon ,Vanity Fair’s contributing editor Elizabeth Saltzman ,ES magazine’s fashion director Gianluca Longo and Bronwyn Cosgrave , chairperson of the Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize. A tough crowd, but Tait obviously stood up to the challenge.
I’m sure I’m among the masses when I say I can’t wait to see what he does next.
