Straight Leg Jeans and Stretchy T-Shirts

After posting about my changing shape I received a lot of positive and encouraging comments, so thank you to everyone who took the time to stop by, read the post, and leave me a little note. It’s greatly appreciated and I value each and every one of you.

Things are continuing to change – my boobs and bum are expanding on a daily basis and most signs of my waist are gone – so I must admit, I’m struggling a little bit to get dressed in the mornings and feel good about myself. I adore the change and the feeling that comes with being pregnant (jeez, did I say that out loud?) but I definitely feel as though I’ve lost a little bit of my identity, and I suppose this will only continue as things progress. Did anyone else feel like this?

Gone are the pencil skirts, the nipped in dresses, the high heels – in their place are over-the-bump jeans, stretchy tops and flats. To help fill a major gap in my wardrobe, a brand that recently came to my attention (and responded to my SOS email message a few weeks ago) is Mamalicious.

Obviously, Mamalicous is a maternity wear label – they do great basics, dresses and skirts and, well, a bit of everything, even casual stuff. This simple grey t-shirt and these straight leg jeans have been getting a lot of wear over the weekends, and I’m wearing the same t-shirt in black to work a lot. They’re comfy, practical, well made, and affordable – who wants to spend a fortune on a temporary wardrobe? But, on the other hand, who doesn’t like to buy something nice now and then?

I love the name, Mamalicious, it reminds me that though I may not feel myself, my body is working hard at something very exciting, and actually, it’s pretty cool what it can do. As much as I want to relax and enjoy this journey, I still want to feel my best – and there’s nothing wrong with that. Mamalicious has reminded me that it’s okay to want to look good, even if I do feel like Nellie the elephant.

You look beautiful and the colours and style look great on you. Losing your identity is a normal feeling in pregnancy and it still lingers once baby is born. I believe that you have to still to take pride in yourself and never forget the old you (even though inside something very new and exciting is happening). Pregnancy and motherhood is a very special and beautiful thing but it is also challenging and at times lonely so you must remember who you are and rock that new look!

I had a beautiful black dress from Mamalicous, it was pricey but well worth the money as it grew with my bump.

    Embrace the bump:) x

Hi Linda, thanks so much for leaving such an encouraging comment. It’s a funny feeling isn’t it? Feeling so unlike yourself and yet loving your bump so much. Ah, Mamalicious is really great for both basics and lovely dresses, so glad you liked them too. Though a temporary wardrobe, nice to treat ourselves too! XX

Honey, you look fabulous….I struggled a lot with my changing shape being someone who has struggled with weight her whole life so it is difficult to let go and just let it happen. You look stunning such an inspiration to new mummy out there. Very proud to be your friend.. Xx

Your looking great. I found it really difficult with the change to my body during pregnancy but eventually managed to embrace the changes and second time round I was more than ready for it. I found maternity clothes limited in Dundee so ventured online to see what I could find, I was surprised that topshop had some key maternity pieces but for a wee treat or occasion I bought from Isabella Oliver. Embrace your bump, time passes so quickly

I’m sure you looked amazing Heather! Yes, I find the maternity stuff in Dundee very limited – in fact, I haven’t found anything! I’ll have a look at Topshop, and was advised H&M so will check them too. It’s just that I don’t want to spend a lot on clothes that I won’t wear again… And when I could be buying baby clothes! Xx

Yes this is true I just bought a few bits and just bought a bigger size in something non maternity. I got a bit of wear out of my maternity things tho (having only 16 months apart from my girls)
Stretchy bodycon dresses were my fav!
Definitely lots of georgoues baby things to buy he or she will have an amazing wardrobe I’m sure! Xx
