Fancy experiencing the ultimate luxury weekend break? Then you might be interested in the Sparkling Spa Weekend at the Sheraton Grand in Edinburgh, part of which I was lucky enough to experience with Kris last weekend when we were in Edinburgh for a dear friend’s wedding.
We arrived to a very helpful reception and concierge team who took our bags to store until our room was ready, and called us a taxi while we quickly changed into our glad rags. We had a brilliant time at the wedding; it was informal and absolutely beautiful, with delicious food, great music and a spectacular dress and suit from the bride and groom. We partied and ate pizza and wedding cake before heading back to our room at the Sheraton, where we were met with a chilling bottle of champagne… heaven!
I have a wee list of important factors when it comes to staying in hotel rooms, and every one of them was ticked off with gusto by the Sheraton! A great view? Tick – we could see Edinburgh Castle from our room. A nice bathroom? Tick – there was a huge bath and plenty of space for my stuff. A coffee machine? Tick – Nespresso at the ready. Finally, a huge bed? Tick – this one was so big that Kris and I could have had the kids with us and never even known they were there!
Next morning we went down to breakfast, where we could choose from the a la carte menu (eggs, full breakfasts, pancakes, waffles…) or a buffet, where there was an omelette / egg chef, hot buffet, cold buffet, pastries, buns, yoghurts, cheese, fruit, cereal… you name it, the Sheraton had it. After we filled our tummies we went to One Spa, which is super popular with locals as well as the hotel residents. It’s a great spa with a hydropool and thermal suite – there’s a huge swimming pool, as well as water, salt and heat experiences. Think multiple saunas, steam rooms, shower experiences, hammam, and a salt room. The hydropool is part outdoors and it actually surprised me how thoroughly relaxing it was.
We just wish we could have stayed all week!
