Today, the 2012 nominees for the Scottish Fashion Awards were announced, and I am absolutely delighted to see that the amazing Hayley Scanlan has been nominated for Scottish Young Designer of the Year.
I interviewed Hayley last year for Vogue.com UK (read the article here) and I found her to be a very honest, genuine person. We chatted for a couple of hours about her background, her training, her experience and her future plans and I was so impressed to learn how well she had done since graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone two years earlier. Since the interview, Hayley’s success has continued and she gave birth to gorgeous twin boys! She works so hard on the Hayley Scanlan label and now she works even harder as a new mum too. What I love most is that Hayley has chosen to stay in Dundee; she is a gem of a girl and Dundee should be proud to have her.
I can’t wait to join Hayley at the Scottish Fashion Awards in June and toast to her success. Let’s hope we can toast to her award too – she deserves it.
