Sartorially speaking, I’ve really felt a change in direction over the past 18 months, particularly in relation to occasion wear. Gone are the days of short skater skirts and strapless prom dresses; now, it’s all about midi skirts and sculpted silhouettes. I guess that’s what turning 30 does to a gal.
We attended a christening a couple of weeks ago, and without hesitation I settled on this simple pink shift dress with leg lengthening shoes (after the christening, I had to accept defeat and throw these BCBG beauties out due to the terrible condition of the heels, and a broken buckle). The shape of the dress is simple, the structure solid and the colour, although brighter than I’m used to, was quite fun. The leopard Gina clutch (a Bicester Village bargain) and Nicole Farhi sunglasses added some glamour to an otherwise low key look. What was most important about the outfit though, was that I felt comfortable – not just comfy, but happy in my clothes. As someone who worries about their weight and measurements on a daily basis, I like an outfit that allows you to forget your worries and enjoy the party.
I’m Wearing: dress, M&S; sunglasses, Nicole Farhi; clutch, Gina; shoes, BCBG.
