P-A-R-T-Y

Harvey Nichols Edinburgh celebrated its tenth birthday last night with an Alice in Wonderland themed party for their most loyal customers, friends and supporters of the store. The entire womenswear floor was transformed into a magical wonderland; think green grass, white picket fences, ornate benches, pink flamingos and crisp, golden leaves. Dotted around were oversize hats which I think were tables (although nobody appeared brave enough to rest their poison apple martini glass on them), cocktail bars, Champagne bars and a smorgasbord of different cuisine, from oysters and crispy duck pancakes to candy floss, popcorn and ice cream. Portraits of the Fashion Pack hung from the walls – I loved Victoria Beckham as Little Red Riding Hood, while Dolce & Gabbana as Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee was a fun, light-hearted poke at the charismatic designer duo.
I went to the party with the lovely Jane Gowans (buy her jewellery!) and we chatted away to some of fashion’s most fabulous: Jonathan Saunders, Paula Reed, Holly Fulton, the pretty ladies of Bebaroque and Scottish Fashion Awards founder, Tessa Hartmann. Later, milliner to the stars, William Chambers, made me a bespoke hat (a gigantic black bow – blog post coming soon!) from his pop-up boutique, all the while chatting animatedly about his new collection and exciting plans for the future.
Jane and I called it a night after the Champagne and popcorn, leaving the hardcore party goers to dance the night away on a silver, glittery, dance floor. It was a great night had by all – obviously a success since there were no reports of any fashionistas turning into pumpkins at midnight!

Lovely and talented, Jane Gowans.

A huge thank you to the Harvey Nichols team for having me, and for putting on such a marvellous party!
