I always get excited around fashion week: the atmosphere is electric! You can feel the buzz in the air and with the shows being streamed live more and more often, you can even feel the buzz on the cyber airwaves. Everyone is flying from one show to another, all the while pausing briefly to pose for the street style photographers. As the world’s top editors and industry experts are shuttled from the front row to front row, the rest of the world looks on in what can only be described as fascination. The fashion pack is like a flock of exotic birds; colourful and beautiful with a few strange but interesting types who attract attention as well as the photographers.
Even with the same format and regular LFW slot, there’s always someone or something new and exciting in London. This year, The May Fair Hotel (the official LFW hotel sponsor for the fourth consecutive year) offers a very exciting visual for the fickle fash-pack.
To honour the fabulous occasion that is London Fashion Week, the hotel will unveil its designer windows designed by top fashion graphic artist, Spiros Halaris. Inspired by the creative window displays of the world’s leading fashion houses, The May Fair will have its façade completely transformed to depict vibrant, stylish scenes from the catwalk.
Having worked on campaigns for top fashion brands including D&G, Tom Ford and Topshop, Spiros said: “I am thoroughly excited to be a part of such a unique fashion project. I think the Fashion Windows will add another fabulous tone to London Fashion Week, and it has been a wonderful experience working with a hotel that really understands and combines fashion, creativity and elegance.”
The Fashion Windows at The May Fair Hotel will be unveiled at 8 a.m. on Thursday 15 September, the day before LFW kicks off. Situated in the heart of Mayfair village, The May Fair Hotel has been synonymous with elegance and style since the Twenties and today it is seen as a young, fashionable and connected central London hotel. The Evening Standard has recognised The May Fair as having “The Best Hotel Bar in London” so it’s definitely one of the places to be seen sipping stylish cocktails during fashion week. I recommend The Pout, a cocktail created specially for London Fashion Week – the perfect refreshment during prime season for fashionista watching.
London Fashion Week runs from 16-21 September.
