I Style My… Joanne McGillivray Oksana Dress

Who doesn’t love a red dress? The Oskana dress by Joanne McGillivray, a new luxury womenswear label founded in 2013 (and one of Scotland’s top design talents – she won Scottish Graduate of the Year at the Scottish Fashion Awards in 2012) is the perfect addition to any woman’s wardrobe – whether you’re twenty-five or fifty-five!
The slightly asymmetrical neckline teamed with the layered upper makes this little red number super modern, while the ladylike length and sharp cut work well for a mature woman. This LRD is a staple piece because of the classic colour, but it’s really versatile, too – think of it as an investment purchase. Why not wear it with a neat little blazer and black court shoes for the office, or layer with a chunky knit and over-the-knee boots this winter, while you sip mulled wine with your beau in front of a cosy fireplace? Or, style it up like The Daydreamer with some statement jewellery, ankle boots, a Mulberry Lily and perfectly matched red lippy – just the ticket for cocktails with the girls. I chose a combination of high fashion and high street pieces to style the dress, mostly because of its versatility, but also because Joanne’s designs always make a statement without having to shout about it, so they need little accessorising – and that, Daydreamers, is when style is at its very best.

The gorgeous Oksana dress is from Joanne McGillivray’s debut ‘Russian Revolution’ collection, which is sure to be snapped up by savvy fashionistas this autumn. Luckily, readers of The Daydreamer are eligible to receive 10% discount on purchases – simply enter ‘ISTYLEMY’ when you check out online.
