Healthy natural hair

I’ve always fought against my naturally curly hair. From a really young age I would smooth it down, tie it back, and eventually as a teenager iron it straight. (There’s a whole group of women around my age who are part of the Y2K brown-paper-and-iron club.) I just couldn’t see past the beautiful, straight, glossy long manes of the women in mainstream media in the 90s and early 00s, and there really wasn’t anyone in the public eye whose hair was like mine and seen in a positive light.

As the years have gone by, my hair has changed… the curl isn’t quite as defined and I’m definitely working with a reduced density. Now, I’m thankful that I have the texture because, as I approach forty, I realise there’s much less of it than there used to be and I know for so many women hair thinning and hair loss creeps up on us from ‘middle age’, and it can cause worry, anxiety, and stress when, let’s face it, there’s enough of that without adding our hair into the mix.

These days I really want to take better care of my hair. For the last two years I’ve avoided the hair dryer and now I let it air dry, kinks and all, and I use heated appliances only once a week. Now, I try to use products that are kind to my hair too, from a mid-range curl cream to an affordable range of products that are entirely natural.

For over four months I’ve been using Regrowz shampoo, conditioner and homeopathic scalp treatment, which has helped to be proactive about taking care of my hair, as well as leaving me feeling more confident thanks to the regrowth around my hairline. The recommendation is to use the treatment every second day, but I’ve been applying it about three times a week and have seen new growth.

It fits easily into my haircare regime – I apply the scalp stimulant 30 minutes before I go out for a run, and just before I leave I apply the restoration serum which helps to grow new hair. An hour later, I wash it off and that’s it! You do need to allow a good three months to see developments. Personally, I saw changes in my hair within a few weeks through shedding, and this was quickly followed by regrowth after about six weeks of having started the process. I continue to use the treatment – it’s seamlessly become part of my regular haircare routine.

If you do feel like you want to give it a try, there’s currently a winter sale of 25% off sitewide until 31st January. Let me know if you give it a try!

This is a paid partnership with Regrowz. Thank you for your support.
