Fruit Fancy

As you know, I was in Oxford last week spending time with Mr Man’s family. I thought that the Oxfordshire village of Eynsham was the perfect setting for my fruit print dress, which Mr Man kindly gave me for my birthday back in June. (Another great setting for this dress would be Milan, if anyone wants to send me).
Prints were a huge hit for summer 2011, and in particular fruit prints. As soon as I saw the Stella McCartney SS11 collection, I was transported to another place, another culture. Her white tunic with fruit print immediately brought to mind authentic, traditional Italian restaurants and the fresh, zesty appeal of the Mediterranean. Stella’s fruit prints took me to a large dinner table with a vibrant, boisterous family eating together and laughing over a glass (or bottle) of delicious wine and platefuls of good food. So for me, Eynsham was the place to wear my fruit print dress – Mr Man’s family do like to enjoy a glass of wine, while his Mum is a real feeder; it’s one of the many ways in which she shows her love for her precious family.
Other fruit prints that caught my imagination this season included Prada‘s bananas (duh) but I especially loved the lemon print dresses at Moschino Cheap and Chic. Before Spring, I couldn’t wait to see the fruit prints hit the high street so I could get my hands on a bright, fun print and start living my Stella inspired lifestyle. Primark and New Look did good high street versions of the fruit print dress, but I chose this one from Wallis because of the Fifties style skirt and quirky striped belt – perfect for over indulging with family, but also perfect for window shopping in Milan with my girfriends. That’s another dreamland, but hey, some dreams do come true…
