Yesterday, I was dreaming of the divine Celine coats for next winter…. today, I’m coveting the mouthwatering colours at Diane von Furstenberg for this summer. That’s the thing about Scotland; one minute you are freezing in the midst of a snow blizzard, the next you are bathed in warm sunlight. From the warmth of my office, I can see the bright sunshine sparkling on the River Tay, a view which (despite the freezing temperatures outside) is luring me into a false sense of spring time.
Diane von Furstenberg is one of my favourite designers, thanks to her somewhat tribal prints and fabulous use of colour, regardless of season. For SS13, she nailed the trend for bright colours without turning to gaudy neon; watermelon, cerulean and citrus yellow were eye-poppingly bright, but retained elegance and style. Furstenberg’s designs are always wearable and the current collection includes light jackets and overcoats, sensual tops and loosely tailored trousers – perfect separates for spring days and summer evenings – all of which have been added to my summer wishlist.
