Tomorrow, Cruise opens in Overgate, Dundee.
The general consensus I’m getting from Facebook is that this is a good thing. Here we are, in Scotland’s 4th largest city and yet (until tomorrow) we’ve had limited avenues for sourcing designer collections without arranging a day trip to another major city in the country. Despite the economic downturn, the (rather inconvenient) recession is not discouraging style-savvy shoppers from investing in quality pieces.
So, I would agree with my FB friends that, yes, Cruise in Dundee is an asset to the city even though a lot of people are indeed struggling in the current financial climate. (People still want to look good!) Perhaps shoppers have discovered that investment purchases are the key, that to buy quality rather than quantity gives a greater satisfaction when spending their hard earned cash.
Another great advantage of Cruise in Dundee is that it will undoubtedly attract newcomers and tourists. It will also benefit the current residents of the city who enjoy the finer things in life. Cruise is a haven where those lucky enough can make a beeline for every Saturday after their Caramel Macchiato and croissant to purchase the latest offerings .
Cruise first opened in Edinburgh in 1981, selling cutting edge designer menswear, and is now a collection of boutiques specialising in high end fashion for both men and women. The staff are style conscious and knowledgeable about the labels stocked in Cruise and they aim to provide their customers the ultimate shopping experience, and this has been recognised by the Scottish Fashion Awards, who presented Cruise the coveted Scottish Retailer of the Year award last month.
If you live in Dundee and you love fashion, you simply must visit Cruise. In fact, if you live anywhere nearby and you love fashion, you simply must visit Cruise. Actually, scrap that. If you’re anywhere near Dundee, whether you love fashion or not, you simply must visit Cruise! First and foremost, it’s a portal of style – but it might just open you up to the rest of the city too.
See you tomorrow!
