Clarins Skin Spa at Debenhams

I often walk around in a world of my own, passing by people I know (soz lolz), completely unaware of what’s going on around me. Since I was a kid, I’ve been like this – head in the clouds, a daydreamer – and I remember my report card from school saying I’d do well if I would just concentrate and stop staring out of the window.

So, you can imagine my surprise when, 18 months ago, the gorgeous girls in the Debenhams press office told me there was a spa located behind the Clarins counter. Eh? Say what? I didn’t believe it until I saw it myself. It’s tucked away behind the counter, a glass door that is so discreet you have to know it’s there to notice it. It seems that the spa is still a bit of a secret (the best things always are) because when, last week, I told my colleague I was heading back there at the weekend she screamed, “What? There’s a Clarins spa in Debenhams?”

So, I feel it’s my duty to share my visit to the Clarins Skin Spa with you again. I actually chose the same treatment as last time because it was such a success, and it was equally as good this time around, and my therapist Adele played a huge part in that – she’s knowledgeable, thorough and professional. The Body Lift Sculptor is one of the few spa treatments in which I’ve actually seen immediate results, so I was keen to have it again! The treatment is designed to improve the appearance and condition of the skin and it actually works. I suffer from bad circulation (redness, dryness, puffiness) and cellulite (self-explanatory) around the upper thighs and hips, which were significantly reduced after my treatment. Last time I bought products to maintain the treatment at home, which I’m off to buy this week to prep for summer, but I’ll actually book another treatment for early June before going to the South of France – it’ll make me feel much better in swimwear and summer clothes. At £67 for over an hour of complete pampering, relaxation and a results-driven treatment, this is worth every penny. I’d go so far as to say it’s more wisely spent on your body than on a couple of new bikinis.

My mum came with me to the Clarins Skin Spa, but she had the new facial (£70). Afterwards, her skin looked amazing (bright, clear, generally glowing) and she was absolutely delighted with the treatment, which she described as fabulous – and my mum never says fabulous. More than ‘just a facial’, her shoulders, hands and feet were massaged too, and she particularly loved the different products and techniques used by Jenny, her therapist.

So, the secret is out: the Clarins Skin Spa at Debenhams may be tiny space in a busy department store, but it delivers results better than some luxury spa retreats. It’s the perfect place to improve your skin and body while feeling completely relaxed, with the convenience of being in the centre of town. Meet a friend for coffee, do some shopping, enjoy the spa…. Plus, the Debenhams car park is open again so you can dash right out of the spa and into your car in less than two minutes.
