Breakfast at DCA

Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) acts as a sort of glue to the people of Dundee. The brasserie-come-arts centre is a hub of creativity where Dundee’s arts, design and writing community often gathers to enjoy the facilities, which include a gallery, workshop, restaurant, bar and cinema. Since its inception in the Nineties, DCA has acted as the backbone of the rest of the creative-led events and venues across Dundee, and has attracted many international exhibitions and artists – but it also caters for the locals on a functional level. On Sundays, you can buy a bacon roll, coffee and cinema ticket for less than £6 and there are also baby-friendly cinema screenings, while the lunch menu works a treat for the university academics and professionals.

Whether you want a coffee or a cocktail, DCA is a thriving, atmospheric venue every day of the week. My personal favourite? Brunch. I mean, who can resist a black pudding and poached egg crumpet with a good cup of coffee? You can get breakfast at DCA right up until 12pm (I hate it when breakfast menus finish before noon) and they’re flexible on requests too. Just don’t be in a hurry, because the service is slow more often than not… but then, brunch should never be a rushed affair.
