Beauty Busters: Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus All-Smooth Makeup

When I think of Clinique, I think of pretty things. Last month, the leading beauty brand did a gift with purchase, packaged in a pink and green Sixties swirl print tin, while the products lend themselves to pretty spring colours, coming in pastel shades of lilac, candy floss, sky blue and mint green. Remember the super-cute fluffy spring chick in the Total Turnaround advert, puffed up into a furry ball of sunshine? Cute, pretty, lovely – Clinique.

Clinique’s Repairwear Laser Focus All-Smooth Makeup (SPF 15) is a great foundation for spring time. It’s that time of year when your skin still needs coverage, but the temperature is warming up (think positively!) and, although you want good coverage, you need something light that will let your skin breathe. Repairwear Laser Focus provides natural coverage while smoothing out the appearance of fine lines. Over time, it claims to create a younger-looking complexion, helping to support the skin’s natural collagen.
I’ve been road testing the Repairwear Laser Focus foundation for the past few weeks and really like it. The coverage is around medium (not sheer like a tinted moisturiser, but not heavy like a full foundation or powder). I’ve been wearing it to work, so I usually apply the make up around 7.30 am and as I write this, at 1 pm, it still looks fresh and bright. I’ve found that by the time I get home at 6 pm it could do with a freshen up, but that’s pretty good going for almost 12 hours endurance of daytime stress! Mostly, the freshening up is required around the under-eye area, the nose and chin, which are probably the areas that I touch throughout the day, explaining why they might need a wee touch up. I think most women would expect to touch up their make-up at that time.
The texture of Repairwear Laser Focus is lovely – it glides over the skin (always moisturise first!) and is easy to move around to cover the more troublesome areas. It leaves skin soft and velvety, not oily, and my skin looks dewy. It creates a good base for bronzer or blusher, working well with other products (whether liquid or powder), even with other brand products meaning you don’t have to replace your entire make-up bag if you fancy changing your foundation to Repairwear.
Repairwear Laser Focus is a great foundation for anyone who likes to improve their complexion by wearing make-up without that cloggy feeling that is a hazard of liquid foundation. This is a foundation that you can apply a tiny amount of for a sheer look, but you can layer up and apply a bit more for a deeper coverage or evening make up. I’m a firm believer in getting what you pay for when it comes to cosmetics, and for such a versatile foundation that lets skin breathe, Repairwear Laser Focus is excellent value for money.
